dont know how bright the idea is but, how about a set of links in there own area for details on engine/wheel/head etc swaps, not necessarily full details but at least what fits what.
i have posted a thread in the garage re this as well  "off with her head"

thoughts anyone....

or have i been a real ar#e and this is already somewhere and i have missed it  :laugh:

There are child forums in nearly all the sections with commonly looked at posts, or posts with such things as engine swaps etc. The only problem is people sometimes do not have the time to write a full walkthrough themselves, so they are not as common to find as we would like.
