Title: Top up oil in boot
Post by: davyk31 on 28 March 2006, 14:28
I have heard other guys talk about getting  a litre jar of top up oil in a leather pouch in the boot of their GTIs. Is this meant to be there as standard or is it something each individual dealer does to impress their customers. I did not get the oil and want to know the exact position so that I can demand if I should have it.

VW recommend that dealers give 1 litre of longlife oil to any customer picking up a new car that has been set to longlife/variable servicing (if you do more than 10k miles per year - intervals upto 2yrs,20000 miles). I don't believe it to be compulsary although most dealers do it. If you ask your salesman (he may have forgot) he'll clarify his dealerships take on it. We do it and it costs the company about a tenner per customer but I think it's a nice touch....
