I've been building kits of silicone hoses for Vauxhall V6s for the last few months quite successfully and now Ihave a Golf I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a kit for a Mk2 GTi 8v (with 16v to follow)?
The silicone hoses I have been using are the same used on Bentleys and other high quality cars. They meet ISO standards and are regarded as some of the best quality in the industry. I can do them in a deep blue, sunshine yellow and bright red (all in high gloss finish). They are all throughly tested and will be 100% suitable for the job.
Kit would probably consist of water, air and vacuum hoses and will probably retail for around a 1/4 of the price of any available on the market
I'm yet to take measurements and get prices etc, just wanted to know what the interest would be like?
First batch would probably be red hoses for a mk2 1.8 8v digifant.
-
stuff the 8v's just go for the Holy Grail 16v's and id be interested. though could you do them in black? im not a fan of coloured hoses. i prefer an OE look
-
Would be interested, what is the performance gain of silicone hoses though. And how much would they be, inc P + P.
-
Id be interested in the 16v ones too.
-
You bet, 8v and 16v
Keep me posted
-
yep got to be good! i might be in touch if you can do custom hoses for my next engine project ;) :P
-
Valver Hoses FTW.
-
i would be very interested, can you do custom ones made to reqiurements etc too? as the turbo conversion on my car was a DIY job the majority of the hoses have been sourced from other cars in scrappies and made to fit so some are not the best quality or fit, see:
blue would be nice too!
-
I'd be interested depending on the price - I'm a tight skint northener!!!
But defo the valver!!!
PS what advantage do they give, other than looking nice???
-
Yup, I can do them in black too, a nice gloss back
I'll do them for a 16v too but I'd need a car to take measurements etc from as I only have an 8v at my disposal. I can also do custom hoses for practically any size, I just need dimensions.
Give me a week or so then and I'll see if I can price up an 8v set. Once thats done I'll set about finding a 16v to measure up. If anyone wants any custom sized hoses, just drop me a IM or email with dimensions and I'll do you a quote :)
Link to the Vectra ones I've been doing for those interested (check out my feedback too)

i would be interested in a set of black ones for my 8v lets us know the price
-
Would be interested in 16v hoses. As and when you get them :)
-
Hi Mate!
Would be interested in a set for an 8v in blue provided they weren't too pricey!
-
I would be intersted in a set of nice shiny red ones for my new baby (depending on price of course)
-
Price will be VERY reasonable, don't worry! As I've said I'm currently able to sell them for around a 1/4 to a 1/5 of other large companies
As a guess they'll be less than £50 a set, but it just depends on how many hoses the kits include and how many kits I can sell (as I'll get a greater discount from the manufacturer).
Anyone local to Cumbria who wants a good deal on a kit for a 16v who'll let me measure there car up for a kit?
-
I'm defo up for a set if it all works out mate, allways wanted some but I just wouldnt pay the price for a full Samco set
-

PM sent
-
At that price would also be interested in a set for my 8v
-
Seriously, get me a price for a loverly set of blue hoses for my 8v and if the price is as good as you say, I'll 'ave 'em
-
16v in lurrrrrrrvly black
-
I can see the price being somewhere around the £50 mark for a kit with a good few hoses in. Most of these hoses are quite a small diameter (compared to the Vauxhall ones I've been doing) so this should help keep the cost down.
I'll be measuring my 1.8 8v up this weekend and have hopefully got someone coming round with a 16v the weekend after...so prices and specs to follow!
As I've said before, if anyone does want any custom ones built up, just give me a shout.
-
Interested in black ones for my 8v
-
Another one interested in a black 8v set!
-
Anyone know if the pipes are different when you do the 2L bottom end conversion?
Cheers.
-
If they are then can soon do a conversion hose kit
-
Defo interested: black set for an 8v
Question Matt: heater hoses as standard, ie not cut for the bypass valves?
-
Nice one
-
stan_deezy: Not sure what you mean mate, sorry. Basically whatever hoses people need I can supply, its not a problem.
Measuring up 8v hoses this weekend. Thread to follow in 'For Sale' section where people can put names down for colours etc. Might need to do a prototype batch initially to check fitting etc, but shouldn't take too long. Current order-delivery time is just under 2wks from placing order to having them manufactured and delivered.
-
Anyone know if the pipes are different when you do the 2L bottom end conversion?
Cheers.
Indeed they are, the waterpump -> oil cooler piping is different as is the header tank pipe (if you decide to go all out and use the improved 2.0 flange on the front of the head)
BIG Matt: I have a 2.0 lump in my garage, I can strip off the hoses that differ and send em to you if you like, as long as I get em back or the 2.0 set work out at a good price ;)
-
thats a point i never really thought about it to be honest.ive got a 2ltr conversion aswell.
glad somebody had the brains to mention it!lol
-
Thanks rubjonny, I'll see how many people need them for a 2l conversion and then if I get enough interest I can start doing a kit for them. I'll IM you if I need the hoses that differ and sure we can work something out. Cheers
-
I'd be interested in a set for my 8v in either black or a deep/dark blue rather than the usual vibrant blue that Samco's are.
Let me know when you've priced them up and I'll see what the bank balance says at the time
Cheers
Ian

Ian
-
Yeah Il definitely have some. 8v Digi- black available?
on another note.. whats with some peoples attitudes to the 8v, making out the 16v is much better.
Isnt this a site for enthusiasts? I thought people would know about the benefits of the 8v over the 16v, although not being 'faster'.
Sorry to put this on this thread
-
it always happens dude i wouldnt worry about it.its been said so many times its more of a standing joke i think?????lol weirdo's!
-
Sorry mate I got a bit confused about who was selling the engine. Sorted now. Will let you know whether I need 2.0 8v or 1.8 8v hoses as soon as I know what's happening with the engine.
Cheers
Ian

jase555@msn.com
cheers
-
Hiyas never put the colour did I, black or blue would be nice :D
-
Apologies for not getting a price sorted this weekend for everyone. Been a bit busy getting the Golf ready for everyday use and been tinkering with my Vectra.
Prices and pics to follow one evening this week though
-
I'd be very interested in some blue hoses for my 8v.
The reason I've not bothered getting some before is simply due to the silly cost, its only a bit of engine bay dressing afterall!
I've got a 1900 TSR engine, I assume its the same hoses as the standard 1800 engine?
Anyway, if I/we could have photos and prices I'll deffo be interested.
Nice work mate.
-
would be interested in Black for 8v
let us know if Black is possible
if not would be interested in Blue, any chance of picture off the colour off Blue it is?????
all depending on price
cheers
-
I'm a cr@p photographer, so the true colour never seems to show when I take pictures of them!
This is one of the yellow ones I do for the Vectra's (compared with a standard hose):
Here's one that the manufacturer send me of all the different colours (apologies for the size):
I can also get reducers if anyone needs them:
Also more pics on:
http://www.vvoc.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62451
The pics I've taken don't seem to show how much of a gloss finish the hoses have, but they are nice and shiny so don't worry!
-
Can you put me down for a set of black hoses to fit a 91 8v digi please?
Thanks!!!!
-
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b336/MK1MADJ/cool4.gif) How did i miss this thread til now???
How about a set for a mk1 with a mk2 16v engine? I imagine It'll be mostly mk2 with the odd mk1, i'll know for sure once the engines fitted
-
im from durhan and will have a full set of 8v gti ones off you as soon as you can make them, was going to replace them soon anyway cos my standard ones are shot. willing to travel for them too.
cheers
-
forgot to add, in red too please  money here waiting, could you do a intake one from airbox to inlet? the more red in my bay the better. cheers
-
List updated and free bump for you too :)
-
I don't see "Rallye" under your list
Knobby...
-
no one asked yet  buy one and I'll add it!!
-

-
Any further news on these Matt?
I was expecting a "Parts for sale" post but haven't seen it yet?
Cheers
Ian
-
Really really want some in blue mate.
Any idea when they will be available and how much for?

-
Any news on these?
Am getting my car serviced between 21st >>> 23rd of April which is when I was hoping to put these on.
-
is this gonna happen? :grin:engine is in the shed at the mo ideal time for these pipes to be fitted!
-
Don't worry people!
I'm measuring up my 1.8 8v GTi and Rowlers 1.8 16v GTi on Friday, so hose prices will follow shortly!
Prices should be up in the 'For Sale' section for Monday if all goes to plan.
I apologise for the delay, been occupied with rebuilding my Vectra and doing some more silicone hose kits for Vectras. I don't mean to neglect my German side
-
Id have em in blue for a 8v .Cost depending!
-
Big Matt has just measured my valver up today, so he has the sizes just needs to get a few kits made up. Shouldn't be long!!
-
Woooo!!!!
-
Yup, been bust with the tape measure today!
Will put a post up in 'For Sale' section tomorrow with 16v hose kits prices. I want the order to go down on Tuesday, so will need deposits etc before then
Will hopefully (wife permitting) measure up my 8v GTi on Monday and post kit prices during the week!
-
16v kits now sorted, for post in the For Sale section follow the link: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=38012.0
8v kit to be measure up tomorrow hopefully so post will follow from the
Does anyone have a pic of a 16v engine bay I can use to illustrate which hoses I'll be doing? My email is: MattFreestone@aol.com
-
Got any sorted for a Rallye yet???
Cheers
Knobby
-
I'd be interested in a blue set of these, would they be that difficult to fit? Make sure whoever gets them fitted to their car first gets some photos up!!!
-
They wont be too difficult to fit, just some jubilee clips to undo from the old ones and pulling them off, then just put the right hoses in the right places, methinks...
-
Yup, VERY easy to fit. Simply undo the clips on the old hoses, take the hose off and put the new ones on. Might take 30-45 mins max to remove all old hoses and fit these new ones.
I think Rowlers hoses wil get fitted first, so I'll get some pics and post them up.
I haven't measure any Rallye ones up yet, but one of my mates has one if there is enough interest?
-
would be good to get just custom ones as all the hoses in my engine bay are from different cars.
just a selection of sizes in 90 degree bends would be good so you can pick and choose whichever are needed. :)
-
No one seems to want the 16v hoses I've advertised, lol!
If you need any custom hoses just IM me the sizes and I'll work out a prices, loads availavle
-
I will have some valver ones when i know prices and get my own finances sorted out.
Edit: i changed my mind, I would like yellow.
-
I'll also be up for some red valver ones once I get money together...
-
Prices are up on the 'For Sale' post: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=38012.0
It is a very extensive kit I have done (as apposed to the Samco 4 hose kind of job) and I can just manage to do them for £75 including everything
I've just managed to get my 8v GTi on eBay, but I will measure up the 8v hose kit before it goes next weekend, I promise!
-
Just waiting to see pics and prices for a set of red 8v hoses, keep us posted !
P.S will the kit include the hoses to the heater matrix and if so will they be long enough to connect to the matrix and do away with the copper pipes that are there instead of the bypass valve, for those who have or wish to keep the valve the longer hoses could just be cut down to size to fit each end of the valve !
-
Red 8v ones pour moi
-
I think I've missed the joke mate ?
-
its meant to be a grin, but looks more like laughing...its not a joke
-

-
i'm up for some 16v hoses and some custom ones but i'd want to see them first. the link to the vectra site wants you to sign up and to be honest.... i don't want to! :P
-
Sorry Steviem I had me thick twit head on when I read that one !
-
Come on, you know you want to sign up to the Vectra site really
I didn't look in to the heater matrix pipes to be honest, I just focussed on the main hoses which are visable. Not sure if I could do the heater matrix ones or not, just depends really, would anyone else want these?
I'll get Rowlers sorted with his 16v hoses first, then once his are done and fitted we'll post up pictures. Sure you'll all be very impressed, as they are quality hoses!
-
I ain't signing up to no vectra site sucka  but I'm looking forward to the picies when you get um on here !
-
Still drooling in anticipation for some nice blue 8v Hoses
-
Too close to middle of the month lol :) will get back to you after payday, looking forward
-
Would be interested in blue 8v ones too, though still need to justify the cost . . . pics would help!!!
-
Silicone hoses give a bhp increase of 20bhp!
Ozz, don't you know anything about engine tuning!?
My justification is that my hoses are crap, and might as well get some nice shiney ones rather than the stock ones.
-
Wow, how did i not realise!! Thats only 3.75ppp (pounds per pony)
Seriously tho, engine bay could use a tidy, just gotta see if i can afford a 75 quid tidy!!!
-
cheaper than a samco 125 quid tidy...
-
tim, i will buy your hose kit, if you buy me a complete poly bush kit front and rear for my valver? :smug:
-
If you throw in half a powerflow exhaust system and fit my suspension for me you could have a deal
-
got her running again now so when ever youre ready dude!bring it on!lol
-
Anyone got an 8v locally (Cumbria) I can measure up...I sold mine on Thursday...
-
id be interested in some for my 8v, any ruff prices?
-
See thread in for sale section
16v kits is £75
-
wherabouts in cumbria? I am over the hills in north yorkshire, might be tempted for a drive over if its not too far.
-
Rather than in an attempt to put a dampner on this, I would like to put the price point in perspective.
This link below offers a Samco Kit for the 8v for £111 with full 12 month guarantee - The 16v kits are almost the same price, and being perfectly honest at £75 I personally would be inclined to pay the extra £36 for a name and guarantee...
http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=147_148_169&products_id=915
Just a thought.
