Title: Proper way of fitting an FK strut brace
Post by: monzablue16v on 27 March 2006, 23:39
Hi guys

Bagged a FK strut brace from egay and am fitting along with new G60 topmounts from VWspares on saturday.

So what is the correct way of fitting it?
shrink it down to it's shortest length
mark and drill holes in my towers :gulp:
paint the holes then grease the holes and then underseal the holes,
use engineering bolts and bolt it up and re underseal it,
tighten the expander bolt and lock it in place?

that's my plan anyway lol
any advice on getting it in the sweet spot or just aim and drill?

Sounds like you know what your doing to me. Cant spot anything you may have missed really. To help you drill the holes you may benefit from a punch. This way there is a little dent for the drill to sit in, and stops it from slipping all over the place. Dont tighten the brace too much either. Just tight will do.
