HI ALL, IM FAIRLY NEW TO THE GTI SCENE AND I AM PROBABLY GOING TO SOUND LIKE A PLANK, CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT THE DIFFERANCE IS BETWEEN A DIGIFANT AND NON DIGIFANT ENGINE, AND ALSO HOW I CAN TELL WHAT MINE IS. tHE CAR IS A MK2 8V GTI 1991.
-
post 86/87 8v = digifant. (Electronic )
pre 86 8v/16v = K-Jet (mechanical)
-
HI YOU DONT HAVE TO SHOUT!!
91 8v most likely a digi (code PB)
the pre-90 spec would be a k-jet
-
thanks a lot, that will save me getting red faced next time i want to order a new part
-
best way is to look at the airbox, if it has a load of metal pipes n gubbins on it, you've got a k-jet. If its plain with a single electrical plug on the side, its a digifant. (Just in case its had an engine conversion)
-
isnt the digi 'injected' and the k jet 'carbed'? hit me if im wrong im guessing
-
both injected, one is electrical injection, the other mechanical :)

As slick said.
It has NOTHING to do with "90 spec" there were Digifant small bumper cars. trust me, I've broken one.

yea, wasnt it late 87 when they first introduced the digi? :undecided:
