I've got a sony minidisc player and a 6 disc changer that i took out of my old car but i've never bothered to fit it in the golf. Gonna stick it in some time this week as the stock sound system is a joke to say the least.
For those with changers, where have you stuck them and where does the wiring route? I wanted to put mine in the glove box so that it's more accesible but that way there is a load of excess cable to lose somewhere. Plus the coiled up cable will probably be more prone to interference, it used to buzz in my old car when coiled up.
Got some better speakers for the doors too.they're two way coaxials. I was wondering if the speakers in the dash were part of a cheap component system or if they're totally seperate? In my old car there were tweeters in the dash so it didn't sound nice at all when i replaced the door speakers with coaxials.
Pics would be cool too if you've got any
Nice one

Ok just noticed the thread below but anyone got info on the speakers?
Also, if anyone's mounted a changer in the glove box how have you stowed the cables and where did you drill a hole?

I'm going to put my changer in the glovebox of my Mk2 GTi. I was going to drill as small a hose as possible to get the wire through the back of the glovebox and then just coil the cable together behind the back of the dash. Then surround the changer with some foam to prevent it being knocked and causing the CDs to jump. If there is any interferance then you could just stretch the wire out down the back of the dash and just cable tie it up to other cables to keep it secure.
I'll let you know how I get on

I mounted the one in my grey car under the small tray under the glovebox. it doesn't get in the way of passenger foot space and it's easily accessable to me. Unless you take a 2nd look you don't notice it there.

Sounds good Dizzie. How visible is it to prying eyes outside the car? Does it go far enough back so that you cant really see it?
I'm a bit worried that it might be visible to thieves but it defo sounds like a good place to fit it.
Did you knock up a custom bracket? What sort of fixings did you use?
