just bought a mk3 gti, already posted on here about it.
all good, nice car, engine etc, just a few small rust patches on the drivers door and bootlid.
nothing major, but, i want to get this sorted before is spreads.
can anyone recommend a good product to kill this off, as i dont really wanna start sanding too much :)
any advise appreciated

Theres no substitute for removing the rust back to bare metal :nerd: but if you really cant be bothered :-
Hammerite - if you can get a colour match
Jenolite - liquid stuff that neautralizes the rust
Red oxide primer - will just slow the rust down

As above you have to get rid of all the rust or you'll just end up chasing it and finding new blisters of rust. It really depends on how bad the rust is, if you can be sure to grind it out without going through the panel then you should be O.K. but you must be sure you've got it all out or you'll be doing it every couple of months. I use a dremel with grinding discs and this works very well for small rust patches then when its back to clean rust free metal I put a good treatment on it and then prime it with etch primer and use two pack stopper to fill any of the areas I've just ground out then under coat and paint it. Done correctly it is hard and time consuming work but ultimately worth the graft in my opinion ! Good luck !
