Chaps.

What is your opinion on the GTi MK2 for sale at ?3295 on the Golfs Galore website. Its a K-plate with 93,000 miles.
1 previous owner. Would you but it at that price?

It's a Run-Out edition. The very, very last Mk2's. Quite a high price for the milage, but it's probably in mint condition. It's worth what your willing to pay for it I suppose. Sound lovely though! Remember the Run-Out editions came with everything included (Fully loaded).

I've seen the car when I went to view another one of his (so I've not scrutinized it closely).  He's had it for a while (and that was early March so haggle!), but was convinced someone would want it because of the extremely rarity of K-plates.  From where I saw it it looked very good, but it's an 8v and I seem to remember 5 door?

The 3 door 16v I looked at there was nothing like as clean as it appeared in pictures and the engine had a small (head gasket) oil leak and needed an idle stabilisation valve!

The cars are not so preped that you can take it on trust that it's good, it needs checking as closely as any private sale car.  Someone on ClubGTI.co.uk had some concerns about Galore (maybe a one off)?

Good luck!

Having just got a run-out edition from volkswizard that had been there for slightly more than a month, i can testify that it is worth just gritting your teeth and going for it!  I studied that 8v at golfs galore quite closely and was sorely tempted, in the end i paid a little less for my red one and i love it.  Just give the car a thorough look-over, and if you like it buy it.  The car is so rare that it will hold its value very well, reducing the impact of any extra work that may need to be carried out.  I have had niggles: faulty battery replaced, loose starter connections, a tiny and irritating coolant leak, but that's all.  It's all part of the experience.
Best wishes,
George
