The previous owner of my Mk2 GTi kindly ripped out his old stereo before I bough it so now I am left with a Sony ISO connector which has been hard wired in to the cars loom. I've got a stereo to go in it but it takes a standard ISO connector, so I need to rip out the Sony one and wire in a standard ISO block.
So, which wire does what?! I can figure out the speaker wires easily enough, but I'm not sure on the live/ignition live and earth. Any idea what colour they are? I have a voltmeter so I can test the wires, but not sure how to work it etc.
Any help much appreciated :)

If it was me I'd run another set of wires straight to the fusebox/ignition just to be on the safe side. it's very easy to do. permant live to the strip of lives on the back of the fuse box. earth to the common point above the fuse box and ignition live to the black ones coming off the ignition switch.
as for speaker wires the front 2 shouldn't be too hard. the rear 2 should be hanging around somewhere near the headunit.

Nearly sorted, just need to find an illumination wire. Got live and swtiched live and earth. Just need to test speakers to find out which wire is which.
Anyone any idea on which wire is the illumination one?
Also, I think that the wing aerial is an amplified one as there are two wires that look like they could be for this?

i think illumination is the yellow and white one or the grey and blue one, you shouldn't really need it though. Hope this helps
