I've recently bought a Mk11 16v and it's spot on except for a mystery rattle in the dash which has been driving me loopy.  It's coming from the instrument panel (can can be stopped by me pressing lightly on the front).
Has anyone had the same problem / is it easy to remove the dash and fix? Help me. Please. Help. It's like water torture!! I've not had the time to take a look yet but I'll have a play with it this weekend.
That aside, always wanted the car since first saw them way back when and it hasn't disappointed.

well done on the purchase! mk2's are old. they rattle. its just one of those things, i have a rattle from my frint drives side somewhere and short of pulling it all apart covering everything in soft stuff and putting it back together its tricky to find a rattle. its easy to take the plastic dash surround off, take out the switches, heater control and systematicly work round, taking the screws out, if it doesn't fall out you've missed a screw somewhere! then i guess you could check the clocks are in tight, or check that nothigns rubbing anywhere... all a bit of trial and error i'm afraid...

ah I wonder if someone took the dash out to change the bolbs, then forgot to screw it back in! (been there done that) Though at least I bothered to strip it all back down to fit the screws
Check out the 'maintenance +info' section at the top of this forum, theres a handy guide on how to strip the dash down :)

didn't get the chance to take a look again this weekend - nipped down south to see my mum (what a good lad!). Cheers for the replies, will strip the dash at some point soon and have a play. Mind you, just driven a 450 mile round trip and it didn't rattle once
