currently restoring my 68 bay at the moment....been doing it for 18 months now so the welding is nearly finished.....also trying to do the golf aswell.....

Same here. Mk2 91 GTi and a 74 bay. Only had the bay since october 05 and keep running out of money to pay for the new panels.
Trying to do the golf up at the same time, but camper takes proirity at the mo, as the golf goes and not to badly for the time being.

I have got a few pics of my bay when I picked it up click here (http://www.maltloaf.co.uk/images/images.htm). A lot has changed since these, well the underside has, still need to weld the front panel rear, engine bay, doors.... Then the fun starts choosing the colour and creating a new interior.

WOW, hats off to you for the very impressive work!! I wish I had the skill, and more importantly the patience, to do something like that!
Well done, should look great when finished, especially with your dedication. Can't wait to see the finished article.

Very nice
I'd love a nice 74 late-look beetle, or a camper. But i lack the funds, space and ability to restore them
-
I enjoy the air-cooled VWs too, more driving my camper and looking at the work people have done on theirs. Hat off to you as it looks like you've spent some time on yours. I like the colour and have you moved the indicators from below the lights and into the front bumper then ?
A little tip, if you ever feel down about it and as though you're getting nowhere then just stick some pics on here for us all to comment on.

Had a couple of Beetles in the early 90's, a '72 1200 Cal Look (weekend car) and my daily driver was a '74 1303 rat look. Got full respect to the air cooled lot and would have another if i could afford to run a third car.

i most definatley do dig aircooled but being at uni i cant have a gti and a van/beetle etc. but im going to run to the sun in a bay. i love aircooled!!

Another aircooled lover here, my winter daily driver/summer toy is an '82 aircooled T25. Would have loved a bay but finances wouldn't allow, the brick still puts a smile on my face though.
