can someone post a picture showing jacking points, axle stand locations etc for mk1 cabrio please. dont want to f*ck the floor like my old avenger ::)
-
What? you know all about tuning/rolling roads and you don't know where your jacking points are? ::) ;)
-
nope!! I've only had it 2 weeks and the haynes book of b*ll*cks doesn't show them, nor the gearbox filler plug, nor the cambelt change procedure, nor th.......etc, etc, etc.

Don't bother with Haynes, get a Bentley manual. These manuals are factory repair guides for VAG USA.
-
I've still got one for my old jag, will that do?
-
You tell me mate, i thought you were the expert here :D

I'm sure every single procedure will be exactly the same, including jacking points.
-
Yep one manual does it all :D
-
nope, can't find it! must of coagulated in the bottom of my rusty tool box (no, not an abandoned 205)
I take everyone just whacks it under a suspension mounting point and shoves a stand under the sill about 6" from the end?
-
Yeah something like that :D

I dont like jacking mine up either cos i'm not sure where to put the jack.
But I always use the thing about 10" in from the sill, just behind the front wheel, think it's like a floor brace or summet?
You have to use a nice flat surface on ur jack tho, I've made a chok that lets the bar sit nicely into it so as the weight is spread evenly.
I'm probably jacking it in completely the wrong place tho, but it just looked like someone had done it there before and I dont like using the sills cos i used a standard windey jack once and it fell off! albeit luckily i stil had the wheel on.
Oh and i put the axle stands under the bottom arm, just by the anti-roll bar mounting. I am having a new exhaust centre section fitted 2moz so i'll take some pics while its on the ramps to show u if u want?
