Title: Lowering and arches
Post by: Luke on 25 November 2003, 01:09
Right, this concerns a MK2 1989 (G plate) Golf Gti 8V.
Currently my wheels are 16inch BK racers, but I was thinking about lowering the car.
Anyone any idea what the maximum lowering would be on 16inch alloys before the arches need work done to them?

I was thinking about a 60mm dropping kit, would look great but would the arches need a lot of work or not?
I fear they will.
Any sort of feedback at all would be greatly appreciated...

P.S. How much are we talking for the necessary work to the arches (if any)?

i dont think they will, i did this on my 91 plate, didnt roll anything or remove anything, only rubbing i got was from a weld on the right hand rear wheel which i just sanded down, even then it only rubbed when people where in the back. get some uprated shocks then you wont bottom out over bumps either :)
