Title: Calipers
Post by: kkh120 on 20 March 2006, 15:59
Picked up a set of 280mm calipers from the scrap yard. Looking to give them a clean up for use in the 16v. Any tips to get them back to full running order?

just get the service kit from vw and take them apart they are only push fitted together. give them a lick of paint and new seals and dust boots and they should be good as new. you will need 2 seal kits from vw. check the piston and bore anrent scratched, pitted, rusty etc they should be smooth and shiny. also get new bleed nipples.

hammerite is good for painting calipers. £5 a tin and you get enough to do loads of bits which will protect them from rust in the future. :)
