Title: Crashed car
Post by: ginner on 19 March 2006, 07:38: Going past a well known shopping centre in Leeds the traffic lights were out so as I'm going past a bus on my right who had let me through an idiot appeared from behind the bus and crashed in to me .Damn.
My car needs Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£5000 worth of repairs but strangely the insurance company didn't write it off.
My car is a black 2002 golf gti turbo150 bhp with no modifications
The worst bit is I'll be without my car for 4 weeks and have to make do with a French piece of crap
Will post some pictures of my damaged car when I work out how to do it.

Post by: ginner on 20 March 2006, 21:53: I know was really surprised they didn't write it off but glad in a way cause would have lost too much money and also I love my car but Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£5000 includes labour so hopefully it will be good as new when I get it back well at least drivers side will be. I have got some photos but I don't know how to get them on the forum but will work it out.

Post by: monzablue16v on 21 March 2006, 20:57: that's a close call matey if the chassis has rippled, a,b or c bar has bent/moved or if a strut tower weld has moved or has split it's an instant write off from memory. Have you looked underneath it? as 5k for a new door and wing, and all new wishbones re jigging etc is a lot of money for what looks like not a lot. :(

Post by: ginner on 25 March 2006, 11:12: I appreciate the advice mate but I think its just something you don't want to contemplate when it happens to you I don't know if I could love another one (just joking). I will have to see how it goes but I am going to get it inspected when they hand it over and if its not right I will send it back till it is. I'm lucky really because I had it booked in for a free revo trial soon but wasn't going to tell my insurance company it would have been just my luck that they would have discovered it and void my insurance... :embarrassed:

Post by: Mantamad on 31 March 2006, 23:18: I know how you feel, years ago I had just bought a BMW when some fool ran into me and damaged the car, it took 6 weeks to fix - waiting on parts and I had to drive around in a French made pile of crap courtesy car all that time - I hated that car so much but it was great to get my own car back eventually.

When you put it like that, maybe it wasn't so bad after all, think I would rather walk than drive a Hyundai :embarassed:
