I was going to give my somewhat faded 'Tornado Red' GTi a good bodywork mop to bring the colour back. I was wondering if I remove the badges from the tailgate are they just held on with adhesive or are there little plastic pins that hold it in to the tailgate too? I fancied putting a chrome VW badge in the middle and maybe just a crome GTi badge on its own on the RH side, but can't be on with filling in any holes if the old badges leave some?
Anyone any ideas?

pretty sure they're all clipped on an mk2's.

Nightmare, can't be on with getting the tailgate re-painted as it'll never match the rest of the car. I'll just have to 'mop' round them, lol!
-
can't you just pop em off , the pop em back on again?

On my Mk2 GTi (1989) the Badges are adhesive, but have 3 square holes in the body, and 3 pins on the badge to make sure it goes on straight (i presume). So you would need to fill these in.

I'll leave it then, might just spray the VW logo in black. Don't fancy getting any panels painted as the car is now Tornado Pink and matching the colour will be a nightmare (even after mopping the paintwork). D'oh, never mind!
