Have all G60s been messed around with? Surely there must be one out there is vagualy original?
I'm possibly in the market for another Golf car for the collection ;), and I reckon a G60 is a worthy investment - but everyone i look at has been "improved". I don't want an improved car - i want one thats original, or was in the last 5 years. Is it too much to ask? sigh

More chance if you Import one yourself ?

Mine's standard apart from a Full Stainless Exhaust and a set of Ronal Turbos, so there are some out there.
Won't be standard for much longer though, as have been forced into an engine rebuild, so am going to 1.9 with forged aluminium pistons, lightened and balanced with an SNS chip, smaller pulley, VR6 clutch etc. Thought might as well go for it!

Buy yourself a cheap flight to germany after scouring Ebay.de then import it via the channel tunnel there are quite a few original golfs left over there I have been tempted by a few recently!! :)

yeah, i'm considering it. i've been checking ebay.de for a couple of weeks.
however, i've been sidetracked last night by an MG coming up for auction in two weeks. i must be mad, i'm considering spending a serious amount of money on a car that isn't even road legal. problem is that its a total factory one off never to be repeated.

i was under the impression most of the good g60/rallyes are in the uk as germans are importing them back? had a look at a few close to where my uncle lives in germany and they were dogs, ending up getting mine in the uk.

i dont mind dogs as the thing will under go a £xxk rebuild over three years. what i dislike are cars that have been messed around with. i don't want to be spending time diagnosing a fault with the car when someone has changed a fundamental component. as long the shell is okay - thats the other consideration.
anyway, its immaterial at the moment until that MG is resolved. problem is that every fecker in the country is after the same damn car next weekend.
