Title: Gold fish pond in rear footwell!

I have a 5 door Golf and I have only just noticed in the back drivers side foot well there is water.  Does anybody know were this is comming in from. T he carpet by both drivers door and rear passenger door seems to be dry.
I have heard that mk 2's are known for leaking water in certain places. Any ideas would be appreciated.  I know you have probably had this question loads of times.

id check the membrane (plastic skin under door panel) to see if leaking , if door drains blocked could over flow into car, unlikely its the usual sunroof thing as drain should go past that area into rear arch,  i reckon your window rubbers aint no good and its leakin there into door, door drain blocked and into car! ::)

yep i would have to agree it happened on my 83' 5 dr, i made new membrane out of a cement bag from b&Q cos there wasnt even one there to start off with!!
