Title: injector cleaning.....more important than you'd think!!

i've been working with a local tuner who has a contact who can now offer ultrasonic injector cleaning.

now, i wasn't too sure as to the improvements but you get a reading of all the injectors properties ie flow rate, pattern etc before and after cleaning, then fully rebuilt with new filters and seals. we did a set on a vr6 corrrado and an 8v mk2 and i was amazed by the difference it made! doubt you'd notice the difference in power but the idle was soo much better on both cars. i'm planning on getting mine done at some point but just wondered if anyone else was interested in this?
turn around is 3 days and costs £25 an injector. sounds alot but have you seen what injectors are new?! and like i say the difference was pretty amazing...... :smiley:

Getting them re-con'd by Lucas is about £11 an injector, I only know because we send 1 or 2 sets a week to them, and thats for a dieseasel.

And 16v injectors are £25 anyway. :drool:

This doesn't distract me from thinking your the best upholsterer in the South  :wink:

are you serious? this is on a bosch machine and i was told injectors were like... £80 each? hmmm i might have to investigate this more?

whatever cleaning injectors properly is better than using redex!! ha ha :laugh:

ok yeah it would seem the cleaning guy was talking crap! injectors are about £30+vat from german and swedish, i assume they are bosch but either way if you're that bothered i'd buy new ones!

I use AVGAS, a petroleum based Aviation fuel - tis good yah!!

Tis very gud ya Avgas rocks and it's about 110 octane! makes a newer fuel injected car go like stink lol

I went to my local vw garage which they say uses forte specialist injector cleaner, he said put it in quarter of tank then run to reserve and fill up....

that should clean the injectors, i've also used slick 50 fuel system treatment which made my escort go like a rocket after pouring that in the tank!

Ultrasound bath is the only way top clean them properly.

Had a bad flat spot at 2k rpm on my Passat V6. Cleaning the injectors using ultrasound completely sorted it.
Problem is, six months later, and the problem is coming back!

I think for the Golf though, you might as well buy new injectors if you suspect them to be causing fuelling issues.
