Whilst replacing the rubber (top) section of my oil breather pipe I managed to snap the long plastic section that goes into the engine. It has snapped at the point where it enters the engine (mk3 2.0 8v).
Can anyone tell me how I replace this pipe as I cant see how I can completely remove the section that goes into the engine? i.e. how is the section that goes into the engine secured?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks.

there is a big clip holding it secure right at the end of the tube just before engine
just pull it out and job done.

I pulled this out but nothing seemed to have come loose??!!

yes thats the one
just give it a good tug
i broke my one the same as you.

Thanks, I'll give that a go. How much you pay for a new pipe?
-
got one from scrapyard for £2 as they are a bit expensive cant remember how much,
there is a rubber washer that seals it you will see it when you pull the pipe out,
just make sure you put it on new one .
hope this helps

Just to confirm, how did you get the remainder of your broken pipe out? Tired pulling mine out with a set of mole grips (as it has snapped right at the end where it goes into the engine), but it was just pulling bits off the piece that was still attached.
Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

my pipe broke in the middle so it was easy to get out,
it does not go in far so you should get it out with a screw driver,
sorry for not been anymore helpfull

no problem

main stealer pipe about 30-40 quid
-
Picking one up from a dealer in the morning. 12 quid.
Still a ridiculous price for a length of cheap plastic!
-
did you get the old one off ok
-
do u lose any power with this hose split? as i just seen mines split  cheers damo

Got the old one off with a screwdriver, took a while as the piece left in was only about 15mm! Dealer ordered the wrong part, so it ended up costing 27quid!
Don't think you will loose power as its separate from the inlet. I was only causing my oil light to come on at high revs.

Thanks for the help by the way!
