Title: Bought a MK3. So have I done the right thing?
Post by: Bronze MK1 Cab on 13 March 2006, 21:56
As per my post in VW related, I've just bought a Dragon Green MK3 N reg on 130K 3 door 8v for £1000. Really good condition, couple of marks to tidy up, but that's it. Totally standard at the moment.

Will get some pics up on the weekend. So does it sound like a good buy or have I been fleeced?

Cool  Brand new ticket on it and it passed first time

I'm thinking.....

lowered 40mm
tasteful 17's
M3 smoked rear lights
Debadged front grill
MK4 front lights

Debadged and big alloys not my scene  :undecided:
:undecided: As you can see from my cab I'm not usually into big alloys, thought 17's on a MK3 wouldn't look too big, perhaps it's back to the think tank! This is all new to me, so need to take more notice of MK3's at the shows

I just think that big alloys don't always look better, and slow the car down. I also like to see a badge on the front. De-badged looks like there's something missing thats all  :undecided:

The Anniversary wheels off the MK3 look alright, I'm not sure but the std 16's off the A3 1.8T sport might be the same PCD and are 16's, like those a lot.  You need 100 PCD, if the Audis don't fit hey will be 112 PCD.  What about the MK4 GTi Montreal II's??

hope you get all sorted, what ever decision you make can't be a bad one... least its still a vw!
(Di, your exception cos you have the cab! )

Cheers for the replies and the tips peeps  Lol at Hardcore, I know you just love BBS rims

Don't think I'm gonna go for BBS rims this time, done all that on the cab

lose the golf gti badge off the back, lower it 35mm on eibachs (stops the rolling sensations  ).
If it's gonna be a daily driver i'd go for 16's as i've always found 17's on 205/40/17 a bit unforgiving for day to day use, but then Sheffield has the worst roads in the western world.

40mil drop, de-badge, 17s and smoked m3 rears, that sounds familiar!

go for it buddy, 17s fit the mk3s arches really nicely and the drop will just bring it down enough. not a huge fan of the mk4 front lights but providing you get all the bumper lights in crystal clear too im sure theyl look cool.

seems like a decent price too. will take some strain off the cabby!

Nah think it's Gwent chandelry store next to the canals! :D from uber cool mk1 cabby to lardy ass mk3 tskk  far too practical them mk3's even feel like a "new" car with pas and everything :shudder: ah well you gets older your cars get more and more sensible

Enough of the ribbing about buying a mk3?? hmmm depends whether you turn up in the cab or mk3 at the shows

The biggest weight increase was actually between the mk1 and mk2, as we all know
Anyway you can't buy a mk2 with any horsepower, they are all battery powered
