Just wondering what I would need to upgrade my old mechnical (heat control/vent control) in the mk2 to be fully electronic?
Possibly available in a later model golf (mk3)? What parts would I need to do the full changeover (heater matrix, vent mechanisms?) as where the heater controls are on the mk2 I want a nice big touchscreen monitor for my CarPC project.
Alternatively if there's no such thing as a fully electronic system in later models or it's too difficult to work into the mk2 dash I may have to change my thinking a little and control the cables with motors linked to a phidgets board connected to the CarPC.
Thanks in advance

the controls work with one or two wires i think (kind of like the bonnet release cable) so can be moved about.
Best thing would be to mount the heater pannel in a Vortex centre console so all your controls and the headunit are at the bottom of the dash leaving you with lots of room for a TV

Yeah I was thinking of moving them down into the centre console originally but then I thought it would be tidier if I could somehow replace them with the twist type electric controls which I could embed in different places, bit of fibreglass and creativity. As for the head unit, that's not a problem, it's going to be replaced entirely by the CarPC which I'll eventually be building up.
I've been looking into programming a Phidgets controller board for use by the PC so might have to look into creating an interface and use a stepper motor to wind/unwind the cable. Nice little touch I think
As always, just a case of having spare cash and free time... though free cash and spare time would be better
