Title: still cant decide!!! not good! lol
Post by: BobbyT on 08 March 2006, 12:12
ok well the time is here for me to make my choice of engine, and i seem to change my mind every week! i have read up on both engines but i still cant decide! do i go for a 2.0 16v or a TSR 1.9 8v???

the only reason i am put off the 16v is the lack of low torque! the TSR engine is about the same horse power i reckon it should go like stink! if i get the 16v i doubt i will tune it much more than standard! advice please, before i flash my green!

I was stuck on this one for a bit myself, 16v's rev much more like the original 1600 engine and lets face it, most of that low end torque just gets wasted in wheelspin

1.9 16v for me

ive got the 2.0 8v brands hatch motor in mine... so much fun. Its quality watching people as you pull away in the same gear and there routing through there box try to find a gear.

Also so much torque and yes you can get off the line without to much hasttle. I think an 8v is more practicle with the power where it is in the rev range. And she still kicks at 3,500rpm

If you are putting a 2 litre bottom on a 16v then you will have all the torque if not more that the 8v has. Then you have the added edge at the top of the revs too!

Id go for the valver.
