One day last week while visiting my local petrol station to fill up my golf with feul ,I happend to notice that as i was about to leave the forecourt the scentral locking  compressor that locks and unlocks both the boot lid and the feulcap cover rapeatidly locked and unlocked. So i turned off the ignition and re started the car and it had stoped cool everything ok, No five minuites down the road it  started again pain in the arse. When i got home i set  the alarm thinking that it would lock the boot and be ok it did and then it unlocked its self then locked its self and agian and again. In the end i had no option but to dissconect the compressor. can anyone help please

 Cheers....Harr1s....

Sounds a bit bizarre.. First thing I would personally check is the earthing to these locks.  Earthing is a problem that can manifest itself into all sorts of trouble, but the boot and the fuel cap seems strange to me.  Are they linked through the same loom and if so they might have a bad return path to the alarm etc  ?

 Something to check I guess.

First thing to do is to remove the drivers door card and protective plastic sheet and see where the rod from the alarm solenoid connects to the operation rod from the door lock. This will control the system locking and unlocking as the MK 2 golf uses vacuum.

With this disconnected push the door button down and lock the car, hopefully all the buttons will come down and it will stay locked. What you also want to listen for is how long the boot compressor works for, it should go for approx 5 seconds and then hold it. if it goes for longer or the buttons pop back up then you either have a knackered pump or a leak in the system.

If it locks ok and no hassle then its alarm based and probably needs advice from an alarm dealer.
