Please people help me settle an argument between my Dad and brother about my mk2 Golf
On seeing me reversing the other day, my dad says that i ha a reversing light out, but my brother is saying that there should only be one on the european models. I have not got a clue, all i know is is always been like that and passed its last MOT 1st time as it stands???!!
Anyone care to inform me??!!

should be two, i have two ergo so should you....

There is 2 on a mk2, but you only need 1 really. I 'borrowed' a bulb for my sidelight out of the reversing lights as that's more inportant :D

Unless the MOT has changed I didn't think you actually needed any reverse lights to work. :undecided:
As for the answer to the original question, check to see if you have any bulbs out !

nope dont need reverse lights for mot.
your spot on ther mr gibby

Cheers guys, sorted it now
although the argument now continues to the fog light (now i KNOW there is only one of those!!!)

Even though both light clusters contain a reversing light, it isn't always connected up or sometimes just doesn't have a bulb.
On my Mk2 16v I had to put a bulb in and wire it up (just linked to the other side). On my Mk3 16v I had to break the plastic on the back of the cluster to fit a bulb for the reversing light.
And it was the same story on my mates mk2 Scirrocco Scala.
