Hi All,
Just wondered if the steering rack issue is now resolved with 06 plate. Also does anyone know if VW called the steering Rack a offical recall for repair. For example if i went to look at a secondhand car how would i know if the steering rack work has been done ?

In theory a brand new car should not have the rack problem. Dealers have a list of all effected chassis numbers and if all dealers are the same as us, we're not recalling, just replacing at point of service or if the customer complains about noisy rack. If you are in any doubt, ring your dealer and ask them to check.
You'd know if it had been done because when you turn left at low speed, there won't be a creaking noise.
