Title: Golf Gti 2.0 litre cold start problems
Post by: dan the man on 03 March 2006, 12:12
Hi, I have a 1999 T reg Golf Gti 2.0 litre. When i start the car in the morning when the car has been standing all night ,especially when its been cold or icey,it stutters and holds back until it has warmed up a bit.It has just had its 90,000 miled service so the plugs are new.It only lasts about 5 minutes but is annoying.Any ideas what the problem could be?

Could be ignition related so leads, dist cap, rotor arm or ign coil, at a guess should be changed every 2-4 years. All easy to check and cheap to replace with exception to the ignition coil. Are all the hoses done up tightly without rips in them? also when was the fuel filter replaced?
