Title: running on 3 .....?

Right so i parked my 16v up the night before and went to use it for work the next day and its running like a bag o'sh!te, thought it would clear but no joy, sounds like its running on the 3 cylinders only and stinks of petrol out of the exhaust.

Ive just brought a mk 4 so at a very bad time this problem has occured.
I have a ecu relay on order anyway as now and then the car had been playing up below 4000rpm.

any ideas to fixing the running on 3 problem, could it just be a spark plug?   the rotor and cap are fine.

remove it and check! Hold the plug against the rocker cover to see if it sparks (touching on the heaxagonal bit).

Could be plug or HT lead?

cool thanks, yeh I will give it a go maybe when it stops snowing!
