Hi all,
I have done a search and nothing came up so here goes;
Is there a trick to removing the battery from a 20vT? My battery has died this morning and I have a replacement waiting to go in but I cannot get the bugger out!
There are four size 10 spanner bolts on the top and on bolt on the base of the battery I have taken off. However there is a load of wires/fuses on the top of the battery and a metal strap underneath preventing it from going anywhere. There really is no space to work on under the bonnet :(
Any help appreciated!
Thanks
Rich

It is a bit of a bugger. Take the cover off the head lamp case to give yourself a bit of room.
You've done the right stuff so far. The bolt at the bottom is what holds it on.ÂÂÂ
If it's the same as my1.8 20v (not turbo), and I remember correctly, you've just got to lever the metal strap thing off the top of the battery (try pressing down the top - it is just hooked over the ridge on the battery)
I might be talking total cr@p, cos I can't see it right now ( I'm at work and my car is outside in the snow - no way I'm going out there unless I have to!! )

Right i'll try that when I get home.
I left the terminals off the battery this morning, that shouldn't cause any troubles should it?

Sorted, thanks for your help!
I replaced my battery with a calcium one from halfords, however the base of these batteries is differant and will not secure in place properly. I bought a larger bolt (M8 in size) and used this to fasten the clip on the base of the battery in tight.
