Title: Rear Parking Sensors
Post by: davyk31 on 02 March 2006, 10:25
I would like to fit rear parking sensors to my car to help avoid a depressing crunch and a mark on my beloved GTI. As my car was in stock I could not specify as an option from new.

Has anyone after market fitted them? Are VW dealers able to do the job or should i try someone like Halfords. They have systems that can be colour coded etc, has anyone any experince of these? They also have basic systems with 2 sensors round the numberplate, not sure it looks great and with only 2 sensors so near the centre of the car it might not give great protection.

Also I would like to see a pic of a GTI with sensors to see where exactly they go in, so anyone please!!!!

Hello,

I don't know if this will help but here it goes. I fitted parking sensors to my GTI at a VW dealership which comprised 4 colour coded sensors fitted to the painted section of the rear bumper. They cost £120 fully fitted but the only problem is that they were fitted in Poznan, Poland! They assured me that it was a VW approved part and they work fine! The only difference will be the cost in the UK!!

UK dealers also offer retro-fit sensors. We charge £249 fitted and colour-coded. They are Volkswagen parts and although they don't look quite as slick as factory fitted, they are pretty good.

Hope this helps
