Title: Strut Brace - is it worth the effort?
Post by: workhorse '90 8v on 20 November 2003, 17:52
Ok not that much effort, but is it worth it?  Do you feel the difference straight away, or does it only come into its own during hard driving.  I wouldn't be adding it for looks.  Any feedback greatly appreciated, cheers..

hello mate i have got an OMP one fitted to mine it was on the car when i got it thinking about taking it off though coz a mate of mine rekons there should be a little bit of play for the chassis to stop things splitting ?!!! (like the chassis) dunno how true this is . i cant really feel a difference with one on or off my 8v didnt have one and that seemed to handle ok. personally mate i wouldnt bother unless you get a nice shiny one for shows!! 8)

Should get an uprated Anti-roll bar. Heard they better off

have to agree about the anti roll bar will make all the difference obliviously with uprated bushes :)

Anti roll bars are definatly the way to go. The strut braces seem to tighten up the chassis but you would have to use both a front and rear to notice the full difference.

Strut braces on a MK2 are more show than go and to be honest the money would be better spent on anti roll bars and new bushes.

One thing is if you do like the magpie shiny effect then keep an eye out for an eibach strut brace as they stopped making them and they do look awesome.
