hi all
just a quick note iv been looking on some of the pic's of the very sexy cars on the site and i was going to give a smoothed tail gate a try ????but i don't know where i will be able to get some fiber glass stuff to do it with??????
can you help
cheers TIGGER
-
fibre glass from any good autofactors even halfrauds do it.
however i would pick up a tailgate from a scrappy so you can practice first.
-
hey slick
good thinking about trying it on an old boot first.............(clap clap clap)
halfrauds sell it??? i must not have been looking hard enough for it.........
is it all the same stuff or is their like diffrent grades of it and things like that......(sorry I'm a bit thick)
cheers TIGGER

There are differing types, but i cannot for the life of me remember what one's they do (and i work there...... oh the shame)
Should be down the body fillers isle, although if you are going to ask someone then make sure its someone who knows what they are talking about in there, cos i get called all over the place in my branch cos i am the one that knows the most about cars. :undecided:
-
so if i go in then ask for slick .....and they call you over i should walk out cuss you know the most about cars and you can't remember what filler is for what place.......LOL I'm only playing with you LOL sorry!!!!!!
-
Oi missus i have just been in work and had a hectic two hours tidying others mess up around the parts desk so balls
Besides you wouldn't get me unless you went to the staffs branch so ner
Hardcor3 should be able to tell you more.
-
wont get you ........we will see
-
Feisty. :lipsrsealed:
-
LOL this could go so wrong LOL
-
most people weld a plate over the recess first to stop the filler from bowing
-
i wouldn't use fibre glass to do this weld a plate in first the filler on that.
fibreglass would probably crack
-
ok cheers i will have to pop down the old man's neck of the woods to do that LOL would it be a good idea to drill loads of holes in the plate to so the gunky stuff can go in there a anker itself in place??????????.....i got one other question can i leave the primer i will get it sprayed with on for the time being and drive around like that.....it wont affect it will it i just want to get the work done then think about a total re-spray.....pink or something?????????
-
i wouldn't leave it just primer to be honest, if they are gonna do a total respray they will have to prep all the surrounding paint anyways.
-
i'm selling my old smoothed tailgate on ebay at the moment!!
you have to weld a plate over the recess or it'll crack/warp and look sh!t in no time at all. mine looks as good as it did when it was first doen a few years ago.
-
hey cool whats the item number for it i will start to bid
-
not seeing as yours is a mk3 you won't. What dear old joe didn't mention is that his is a mk2 tailgate.
