Title: Fitting central locking kit, few questions!
Post by: Deefadog on 28 February 2006, 12:33
Ok, thought this was going to be easy :)

Having trouble taking the inner door panels off -

1) - how do you remove the plastic from the door latch on the inside? on the MK2 it slide across, but i can't seem to remove it.

2) - how to you take the winder handle off?

3) - can yo but the rubber tubing which goes through from the colums to the door, to protect the wires?

Thanks

1. Pull the handle back and you should see a small gap at one end of the plastic cover - put a small screw driver in the gap and pop it out
2. The winder cover is hard to take off and you need to again put screw driver or something that can lever it off at the back of the base of the handle winder and it will come off.
3. yes your can - its just a bugger to get in place

 i fitted one of those kits about 6 months ago - it was great for about a month then something went horribly wrong, the key got stuck in the lock half turned and felt like it was going to snap!!! in the end i had to dismantle the whole lot as i couldn't lock the car and the key was hanging out of the door  it was 1.30 at night

:undecided: the kit i bought was a 4 door kit so i've got all the spares i need to fix it - i wont be bothering

Well i have not even got off the ground, it looked so simple, i have only connected each motor up and laid them on the seats, and i have connected the power to the constant live, and earth to earth, also there is another red wire & black wire, which it shows you to also earth, but the thing does not work!

If i take the black wire from the master lock, and touch it it does kinda work, also the control box makes anoise when i press the remote when the black wire is disconnected!

Any ideas or is the kit knackered?

You should have a master servo(drivers door) which usually have 5 wires and a slave servo(passenger door) with 2 or sometimes 3 wires basiclly this means you can conect the master up to an alarm system with a remote locking opition its a long time since I did one of these and it was on a mk2

Update: Never mind, got it working :) I just diconnected the other red and black wires and it works fine with these disconnected! - must be to connect to an alrm or something?

Cheers for your help!!

This is a £30 kit from ebay - Huati or something like that :) i don't think i would trust it for de-locking purposes LoL

Any ideas on what the extra black wire and red wire are for?

Thanks

would that go to your alarm if you have one to operate it when you do the alarm?  :undecided:
