Hello everyone.
I've not posted for some while but have been keeping an eye on events recently and its good to keep up to date with everyone's news. I'm about to get my Golf 1.8T chipped (APR) and would like to hear of anyone who's had their own cars chipped. I'm looking forward to the new performance and want to hear from anyone else who's done this. Is it that much of a difference really and am i right to be so excited?? i don't have many other mods apart 18" RS4 style alloys, after market dump valve and milltek cat-back exhaust.
Look forward to hearing other chipping tales
Thanks in advance!!

You will love it mate, difference is unbelievable. 200% recommended

I didn't get mine chipped, but got OE ECU re-mapped at Jabbasport. Went from 150 bhp to 202 with no mods at that stage..... Have never looked back!
And all for only £475.
-
ps Which 1.8 T you got?
-
Hey Andy (flipmode)!! When you getting it done? You'll have to take me out for a spin when you've got it!!
-
Ive had mine done at jabbasport on Monday its brilliant the turbo actually does something now it never seemed to before it realy brings the car to life i put a milltek turbo back exhaust on and a jabbasport induction kit its now 220bhp it cost me £425 for the remap i blagged it and got involved in a group buy with a forum that id never even heard of worked though
-
why jabba sport over revo?
-
revo in... and omg... it says i got 34mpg on the way home.. but my fuel needle says different i think!
but its bloody cool, had to keep a proper eye out for police.

why jabba sport over revo?
cos the jabba remap is custom to your car, i think the revo is just a standard map thats the same for every car (correct me if im wrong)

sorry for late reply....
I've got mk4 golf 1.8T 150bhp, its an earlier 1998 model so i think rather than updating the software on the existing chip, the guy told me they would replace the chip with a new one. They said I'd need to pop around first to ensure my 'ECU code' or something was workable (takes 5mins to check with plug in software), then I'd book it in for about an hour, a bit of soldering later and hey presto....new power.
Course I'll take u for spin Richy! i just need to get an appointment now.
will keep u up to date.

Sweet I brought a MK4 anniversary around 20 minutes ago and am proper excited!!!
Its got 180bhp apparently, what sort of bhp can I expect from getting mine tweaked??
thanks carl

The above models mentioned by myself, have KO4 internals, so why shouldn't they re-map to 225 ish bhp like a Cupra R or S3?
Jabbasport don't claim you'll get 230 BHP eveytime, in fact they even state a wide banded figure of between 210 & 230 on their website!

Mine is KO3s/dbw and i've been on many rolling roads, somedays mine makes 220/247 other days I,ve had it a low as 195/217 :undecided:. Interpro gave me my highest figure and westec my lowest. Jabba are known for having a complimentry road I believe too. :undecided:

Friday booked in now,
'friday is the day the extra 50 horses come to play'... ( well roughly fifty i understand ). I'm hoping my milltek will sound even beefier now, just need to sort my brakes out so i can stop without going thro the back of someone.

Good point, but was the ambient temperature roughly the same on each day, as this can make a huge difference?
Anyway, as long as we're all happy with the cars on the road, hey???!!!
