Hello all, just thought I would take a few minutes to introduce myself.
My names Andy and I have just dipped my toe back into the VW scene pond by buying a 1989 MK2 16v with small GTi bumpers and standard full black leather interior. It also has a set of FK Highsport coilovers fitted   . It is currently off the road with a mechanic as it failed it's MOT and needs all but one of the brake pipes replacing, but I bought it without an MOT and paid the relevant price so am still very happy. I plan to run it fairly standard for the time being but plans are afoot, particularly based around around the performance with a bit of styling thrown in for good measure. Will sort some pictures when I actually see it again!!
Stepping back a couple of sentences I mentioned that I am coming back into the VW scene, I used to have a black Mk1 with a 2.0 16v engine on twin 45 de'llorto sidedraught carbs, loads of headwork, 276 degree cams etc etc. putting out 180bhp (an extreme fun car), used to sprint it at most of the events inters, festival (starting back in the day when it was at Avon Park raceway) and lots of run what ya brung days at the pod. Sold it approx 4 years ago and have had some family machinery in the meantime but the little fella is growing up now so have been given the green light again for a Golf.
Bring on 2006.................................

Thanks all for making a newbie feel welcome.
Managed to find a pic of my newly acquired MK2 from Festival last year (used to belong to a friend so tralled my old show pics) and post it for you to see.
Can't wait to start throwing some cash at it...........

Welcome to the forum.
Car looks nice and tidy. I'm still loving mk2s with small bumpers at the moment.

Thanks Gibby..
I like the Mk2 with small bumpers too, keeps the classic shape and retains the looks. Not that I don't like the big bumpers just think it looks a little different.
Loving the forum so far can't keep away !!
