Without shadow DBP especially with the 18".
-
graphite blue brings out the red trim!!!
-
I chose black but so many are getting black that they will be one-a-penny - so get blue

Black is best overall colour for the following reasons:
1. Functional. Shows off the wheels, but not the plastic trim.
2. Iconic. It's a classic GTi colour-can you think of any other car that looks really good in black. (There aren't that many, Maybe 911's look good?)
3. Co-ordinated. It fits in with everything eg the black headlining, the overall sporty image.
Against blue:
1. Considerate. Looks best on 5 dr versions-more family orientated.(Mother-in-law-may approve)
2. Soft. Image-possibly at odds with basic "drive-me-fast" concept, it's not mean't to be a "nice" car.
3. Some shades, not necesarily this one, can 'date' quite badly in a a short space of time.
I have always had a black car by the way!

i was struggling between black and blue graphite, my last Golf Anni 180bhp was black and looked beautiful when polished but showed swirly scratches when looked at close up, I opted for the Blue Graphite and was totally chuffed with it when it arrived, it changes colour depending on the amount of sunlight on it and everyone comments on what a great colour it is - plus from what i have seen there arent many about, by the way I live in Cumbria too...........

Hello,
i'm also torn between black and blue graphite. I started on red but went off that when a saw one in the metal (they look great in magazine reviews). Then I decided on black, went to place my order and spotted a blue graphite Jetta in the showroom, this threw me into turmoil and I came away without ordering. I know black is a "classic" GTI colour and I wonder if the blue graphite will affect residuals. Also, if i go for black, does the metallic look £350 better than the solid and is there any difference in scratch resistance/wear/ageing?
Cheers,
MrBodger.

If going for black, definitely choose the metallic/pearlescent. It's got a thick coat of clear lacquer-resists scratches better and does not show them half as much as flat black. All solid dark colours go very scratchy looking after a relatively short time.

I've gone for the Blue Graphite
I couldn't even tell you what it looks like! But we've had lots of black motors and just fancied a change

Excellent choice
