I put an alpine in my previous car years ago, sold the car and got the golf, took the stereo, amp and sub out, left the wiring coz i couldnt find my torx driver.
gave the stereo to my dad to put in his jeep but he says it wont fit, did my alpine come with its own cage that i have left in the departed motor? or should it slide straight into my golf?
if not it'll be going on ebay i think.
-
think it should have its own cage to lock it into place
-
yeah they do, alpines have a cage, with hundreds of the little tabs you bend back to lock them in the hole.......
-
damit, i couldnt remember so that has gone with the car!
can u buy them anywhere?
-
think most dealers should be able to get hold of one, go down scrap yard and see if any cages fit ur unit??

cheers mate,
Is there anything else I could have left in the car... the plug that plugs into the back of the stereo...? will that be the same on the golf as it is on the alpine? i remember now, i didnt fit the headunit, it was iftted my halfords for free so i dont know what came in the kit!
grrr

No, the only thing you need to re-install it is the cage and head unit wiring loom.
Oh and the head unit (obviously )
-
What jeep is it going into and what reg?
-
ive got the loom attatched to the back of the stereo... but do i need a loom for the car?
i think im putting it in my golf till I can afford one of the new range of alpines as my dad is selling the jeep to get a nissan something... thier 4wd thing. which has a cd player.
it would have been an R reg jeep grand cherokee

You won't need any extra wiring looms then, the golf is ISO. You may need to swap the yellow and red wires round but should be able to do this with the wiring loom that goes into the back of the alpine (should have bullet connectors on it).
