I've used Nakamichi before and have certainly noticed the difference compared to the likes of kenwood and alpine.

Same car, same speakers so a direct comparison.

just not the cd changer unit. I bought a cd45z (single cd model) in 2001 and it's still going strong, in it's 5th car now!

Id agree, amazing headunits, but not hugely reliable. We used to stock the CD400, and i loved it. i enjoyed watching lads on mopeds comming in and taking the piss out of it, because it does look like a standard head unit, which is another reason why i liked it. units used 24bit digital to analouge converters which is why they are so highly regarded. i never had a customer come back with trouble, however we didnt sell many, and from what ive heard they can be a bit of a mare, i remember the first few batches of them we had, didnt even come with an ISO connection, just bare wires.

We sold them at work until recently, and they're still a available on special order. Never had one back... and one of the other guys there used one till he sold it. I'm told they're worth the dollars, but I've never had the pleasure, sadly.
