Title: Diverter Valves.... Which one?
Post by: HandsyBoy on 21 February 2006, 11:29
Hi all,
I want a diverter valve for my Golf GTI 1.8 T, and i would like to ask all you fellow golf enthusiasts which one is the best for performance?
I dont want that silly sissing noise, but one for performance. I think its the piston type which makes the noise, and the valve type which doesnt. Correct?

I went for the Forge one myself. Quality product, no stupid noises.

I like the noise you can hear as you accelerate away. I don't like the dump valve noise of a quick release of pressure. Will the forge and the baileys still give me that sound that I like?

i havent bid, and i dont enter such wars... i posted on here as i am probably not going to bid as i cant find any mention of this valve on the forge website, id rather pay full price for the 007p brand new, than £20 less for a valve i dont know for sure is gonna fit, ahs been used, and i have to pay for postage too lol as it looks like its gonna break £50-60 odd

its broken £55 now so i dont think its worth bidding anymore, seen as the 007p goes for £80 brand new!

if no one else bids then it'll be like £70 all in... whats the point for a dumpvalve you dont know about and has been used?

think ill just buy the 007p

ended for £70, plus £6 postage...

when the brand new 007p retails at £80...

how silly is that!

I was going to bid on it too, but never botherd. The forge piston valve is just over 100 notes including VAT and delivery. The one on ebay was the diaphragm version, which never sold very well, so they stoped making it and bought out the newer piston version. The only good thing about it was that if you had a turbo upgrade you never had to dismantle it, where as the piston valve you do. The piston dv is a tad faster too, and gets rid of the turbo lag assosiated with the original bosch type VAG supply.
to answer ants question in a previous post, i have a fresh air cold induction kit, which runs down the wing and under the car. Nice set-up, but it does make a slight swooshing sound caused by the valve. The original airbox was more enclosed, so you nether really hear it. I personally quite like this sound as its not too annoying, and can only be hered from inside the car. The kit was about 50 pounds off fleabay. Comes with a breather filter for the smog pipe. Gives the car 7-12 HP extra (apparently) as its based on the evo sports kit.
