Title: Rear Window Problem
Post by: marcusps on 21 February 2006, 10:16
I have a Golf GTI Mk3 howver i have a problem with both my rear windows.  The windows will go down but not go up.  Also the windows will not lock meaning you can pull down the window with your hands.  What could the problem be, is it common for golfs?

It means that the mechanism is broken . I had one go on my car. You can fix it by taking the mechanism out of the door [tape up the window first to stop it dropping] and re-securing the metal bead on the wire into the plastic holder. [its a bit fiddly] . I used a couple of cable ties .

Its all fairly obvious when you get the door car off . Go and buy a haynes manual is you are apprehensive .

You don't mention whether you have electric rear windows :undecided:, but seing as it's a GTi, it's more than likely.

Check out this link, I hope it's of some use to you
