thanks for the warm welcome guys

i'm sure this has been asked before so i'm wandering if anyone could get me link for things to lookout for when buying a mk 2.

i know the (very) basics about cars but is there anything that i should be especially aware of on a mk2?

This is a good guide. Read it all through and I think it has sections on mk1 & mk2. --> http://www.matey-matey.com/golf_buying_guide.shtml
