Title: Caddy!

Ok, i got myself a 1991 J-plate VW Caddy 1.6 Diesel in White with 59,000 on clock.
Owned by my dad, and prior to that an old farmer who drove it down to his field each day (hence low mileage)....

 :cool: Its a bit beaten up bodywork wise and has hot a Truckman rear boot top on it..

So.... now im gonna start playing with it here are my plans and questions....

Straighten all panels, fix rust
1. The Bodywork im leaving White cause its original and i like it!
2. Im removing the Truckman Top to make it pickup again
3. Ive already put a set of 14" cheap Team Dynamics wheels on for now, but want deep dish 13s
4. Lower it to the weeds!!
5. Fit Chrome edge Grill and Crystal clear lights
6. Red tinted Rear lights.

Now the Questions....

1. Should i go two tone White and sumthing else? White and ?
2. Who wants to buy a Truckman top?
3. Best Wheels to suit Caddy? 13" or 14"? how wide? (on a budget)
4. How low? How do i lower leafsprings? how to get front to match same ride height?
5. Should i Turbo the Diesel engine? Do TDI manifold and Turbo fit 1.6 D?
6. Anyone got any pics of White Caddys?

Cheers guys, im looking foward to playing with the Caddy as i drive a Mk2 as a daily runner and would be cool to finally have Mk1.  :wink:

Answers to your questions

1. Go for it - White and gun mental colour - would be mental
2. No.
3. 13'' - 8'' wide
4. You can drop it low mate - if you go to the Golf+ website - they have a how to guide to lower a caddy (http://www.thegolf.co.uk/images/how/4_10_4/lower_caddy-screen.pdf)
5. I'm not sure if you can turbo a 1.6D
6. Google or MSN it mate....

i have no idea on most of your questions so sorry but liking the ideas of the caddy, i saw one today actually in matt black, looks pretty cool!  :cool:

They have loads of information on mk1 caddy's and alot of this information can also be applied to mk1 golf...

This is a 20vT sitting on steelies and is sweet. Her hubby Gary built it and so they may be able to help you out with any questions you might have and also any bits as they are starting to source parts etc. Good luck and keep us posted of any updates.  :cool:

seen g6dubs caddy at volksfest last year. and may i say it was absolutely spanking!! uber clean engine bay and dropped on its arse.

was a veritable piece of art imo!!!
