Just bought a 1.8T privately and have a few niggles that maybe somebody might be able to help with.
The temperature gauge initially starts to read but gets to about 70 degrees then drifts slowly back to zero. Believe it should sit on and around the 90 degree mark once the engine has reached normal working temperature.
Hopefully just a sensor?
Also on board computer fuel consumption works OK for around 5 minutes displaying around 30-45 mpg depending on how i am driving. It will then dramatically flucuate between 30 and 130 odd mpg even when driving at constant speed. Hope again this is just a sensor and not the computer itself. Could live with it but would be nice to use this facility.
Any advise or comments gratefully received.

first one i can't help you with
second one - it sounds like you REAL-TIME MPG - this is dependent on how hard you floor the throttle. if you press the button on the end of the wiper stalk you can flick through various options; time driven, avergare MPG, distance driven etc.

second one he's right ^^
mine goes anywhere from 6mpg wen booting it down the slip road, to 170mpg when im getting pulled along behind a truck....
1st one... hmm mine sits at 90...

Second one - Think as people say that this is your real time MPG, mine is all over the place... However I very rarely get 35mpg in the Turbo :(
First one though I had the same issue but mine would sometimes be on and sometimes not... For example I would look and it would be at 0 then go around a corner and it would shoot to the middle then next corner go off again.... This tied in with having it in to revo for a free trial and he noted that there was a faul code popping up (temperature sender or something similar) took it back to the garage and they replace a sensor and it has worked fine since

real time mpg??? mine doesn't have that option fitted, mine has the random number generator!!!!!
