Title: miss fire
Post by: john e on 15 February 2006, 21:21
Hi every one Please help
I have a gti t 16v on a 1999 and have a problem with a miss fire on cylinder 2. i have tried swapping spark plugs and the coil packs but the problem still remains on the same cylinder. A recent visit to a local garage couldn't find the problem even when they plug it in to a diagnostic machine. This problem comes and goes but seems to be getting more frequent.

Also the heated seats don't work and the headlight washers to . is there any obvious things i could try to fix these problems or should i just put up with a cold bum for a few more months until summer gets here...!

cheers john

Have you checked that the car has a winter pack?

I'm sorry, salesmans humour

I must admit, I was thinking coil packs as soon as I read the title. Did the dealer check the coil packs on the car in case they were faulty?. They normally are the cause of anything misfirey on a MK4. We've changed hundreds. I'm not mechanically minded, so thats me done. Sorry

I don't think it is the coil pack because we swaped it with one on another cylinder to check it . but the problem still remains on cylinder 2 .

Any chance running the problem past your service department and see if thay can come up with any ideas?  cheers
