Title: Frustrating Insurrance renewal...
Post by: Dizzie on 18 November 2003, 17:07
I'm 22, Male, 1 NCB, SP30 (09/2001), claim (06/2001), parked on drive, decared mods include the wheels, lowering, big bumpers, eleccy recaros, momo wheel, knob, pedals, phat ICE, crystal lights...

Here's the quotes so far:

AXA - ?926 fully comp (renewed)
Brentcare - ?894 fully comp
Adrian Flux - ?950 fully comp

or

If I go ahead and drop in the 20vT running 200bhp like I've been going on about for the last few months HIC will cover me TPFT for ?878. HIC want something silly like ?1500 for fully comp cos I've only got 1 year no claims.

AXA and others won't quote me with the transplant  >:(

So do I risk going 3rd party and get the swap early next year or stick out another year on fully comp or what? I REALLY want a turbo!

have you tried tesco's or privilege?

I hear tesco's sometimes cut a good deal, i'm with privilege at the mo because I upgraded the policy from my old car when I bought the new one.. once that runs out i'll shop around.

The insurance company that has a banner on the main page is pretty cheap. Gave me a quote for ?270 for my cab, with 6 points, 6 Years NCB 30 year old, garaged.

i have to say - what are you expecting?

you cant double the power output of the vehicle and expect the insurance company to bend over.

put up buddy. life is tough. if 1.5k is bad, consider that the lowest quote i could get tpf&t for my 16v 10 years ago was 4.5k. And that with 3 or 4 years ncb.

Insurance is definatly cheaper now than when I pased my test - 1992, 19 years old, no NCB, 1981 mk2 escort - .........
?550 third party ONLY!!!!!  the bloody car was only 75 quid to start with!!!
That was a nearly a months wages for me back then!!

you gotta shop around
i bought a vr6 in 1996 had 3 yrs ncd 26 years old and loads of companies wouldn't insure me, most were ?1200 + then a mate recommended prospero direct, now axa i think and i got fully comp for ?400

its a pain in the ass phoning round but can be worth it

Remember winter is the time when insurance rises because it is accident prone and companies make alot of money from this.

Insurance is like bog roll, not very interesting but everyone needs it.
