any pics of them in?
how hard to fit gaz...
-
also, do those little ones fit my standard MK4 gti headlights?
-
They are classed as "501" bulbs, and are pretty straight forward to fit, the problems is all the bloody plastic that swaps the engine bay now and the position of the battery is a bit of a bugger too.
-
I can't change my sidelight bulbs without removing the light unit, main beams are a piece of pis tho

so to get the headlights off... i have to take my whole front bumper off!
ive got my set now, 3 sets, 1 set of H7 xtreme white (4000k)... but worrying is the fact that the word "blue" has been scribbled out....
one set of 501 w5w extreme white sidelight bulbs i think...
and one set of H1 55w extreme white bulbs...
my bulbs at the mo have a kind of cap over the tip... when i take my lights apart will i need to remopve this and put it on the new bulbs?
-
all for £15.99 by the way.
-
done it! bout an hour start to finish, easy job really. and finished just before it tipped it down!
gonna go for a little drive tonight and see if they are better... look loads better now!
cheers guys

did you have to take the front bumper off then?
I was ineterested in buying some Philips Blue Vision from www.powerbulbs.co.uk as you get free sidelights and I hate teh yellow ones I have as standard...
-
yeah bumper has to come off, but its so simple, just follow that guide... its obvious once youve popped the grille up and taken the girlles off the bumper. then just unscrew, pull out and away. the hardest bit i found was getting the spade connector off the highbeams! needle nose pliers had to be used.

here was me wanting a nice easy way to do it... I think SWMBO will kill me if I start to dismantle the whole car just to have a blue sidelight instead of yellow..
especially when I should really be painting the house

You have girls on your bumper ant, nice
-
Don't get them from Halfrauds - their shelf-edge guides are f**king lies and you end up with the wrong bulbs :undecided:
-
aye tell me about it I ended up buying a full beam bulb instead of a main beam one as halfords shelf guide was wrong... however the guys behind the counter tend to know the right ones
-
Halfords offer free fitting, if you buy thier bits, I went there, got a sidelight bulb, said fit this
They told me to feck off, my car is excluded
-
I might try that one :) sure I can find a halfords that will do it although it does sound like fun doing it myself
I know the LED's are technically not road legal but how many people have them / been stopped for them?
-
mine werent from halfords, from autobulbs or sumthin on ebay. they are sweet for £15.99!
halfords shouldnt have exclusions... its not fair :(
and no, i dont have girls on my bumper.. but im washing and waxing the car today so mite attract a few later.
i found another parking mark when i took my bumper off though, somone has scraped my arch in a car park! thats like the 5th time!!!!
Im trying to get hold of a spoiler and anniversary kit at the mo so when thats sprayed up im gonna have to get all the marks sprayed up aswell :( = muchos dollar $$$$

I've had led sidelights for well over 12 months and never had no trouble, and passed MOT :smug:
