Dear All,
I know some get upset about people coming on here just to advertise, however, I hope that this appeals to you and some of your members gain benefit from it.
The event is called Speedball, and it is another version of the famous Gumball rally but without the £10-40k entry fees. It is around Europe in much the same way the Gumball is, it is just as hard, just as fun and just as involved and unlike other rallies that exist just in the UK, Speedball gives you the opportunity to drive abroad and this year to drive on a track.
This year the itinerary is as follows:
Day 1: London – Amsterdam
Day 2: Amsterdam – Prague
Day 3: Prague – Nurburgring
Day 4: A day spent at the Nurburgring onto Luxembourg
Day 5: Luxembourg – Welcome party
Entry fee is just £275 and this includes all the stickers for your car, ferry crossings, 2 embroidered shirts, the party, walkie talkies, a welcome pack, route packs and other goodies.
It is the second year the event has run and already we have a huge range of cars entered, from a Bentley, Ferrari, GTOs, Skylines to a BMW – it really is for everyone to get a taste of driving your car like it should be and a good opportunity to publicise your club!
For more information please visit http://www.speedball-rally.co.uk/ or contact us on contact@speedball-rally.co.uk
Thank you for reading

SOOOOOOOOOOOO TEMPTING!
-
I thought canonball was the next best thing?
If u want to get it popular get yourself hosted on a seperate server (So that your not just forwarding people to a folder on warwick photography), proof-read your pages its full of errors, get loads of photos n videos up from last year.. your only address on the site is a Flat! not many people are going to fork cash out to something if it seems to be run from a bedroom (i know i wouldnt, not with it only being run once and there not being any photographic evidence of it happening). Get a p.o box postal address its only £54 annually :) Maybe also offer people the option of you sorting accomodation out for them aswell, I know i for one cant be @rsed to sort all that out! Not when for £4500 i can do the canonball and they'll get me 5star accomodation at each party.. :)
-
HypnoTad you are absolutly correct - the site has only just got live, I was being hassled by those that went last year to get one up so the mistakes are there, but when you work on it for so long you get blind to them
The resons why accommodation is not included is because it enables people to spend as much or as little as they wish on this. Once entered you receive a welcome pack which includes a complete list of different accommodation in the close area where each checkpoint takes place. With regard to the server, this is bought and not working - have complained to the hoster, however, they have not got back to me
I can tell you don't have a good impression of it but believe me - value for money is second to none and you say £4500 to do the Cannonball, show me people who can afford to do that for a few days away - £275 including crossings, shirts a party etc etc is slightly better value!
Well I hope that you bear with me on the spelling mistakes, but for now get on the forum and find out any information that you want - its serious value for money for a once in a lifetime opportunity

Ahh no, i think you mistook the tone of my reply - I dont have a negative view of it, infact it sounds quite fun.. :) If i could, i would probably be joining it this year - maybe next time?.
I was just posting a few things i noticed which you may of overlooked, meant to offence by it :)
-
i want to do something like this one day! would be cool as!!
-
It is very cool. We bring with us a small camera crew and make a DVD of the event (2005 is for sale on the site), the event is in its second year and is getting better and better and will continue to do so - it is a trip of a lifetime and something you won't forget
-
its pretty easy to arrange one of these yourself just for golfgti.co.uk members!!
plan a trip destinations so start in london go to nurburing and then back again...
tart it up a bit add some exciting stops in between like paris hamsterdam etc.
one or two ppl take most responsibility for arranging it and taking payments for hotels etc and booking sh!t.... before long you will have a golf.gti.co.uk european cruise.!!!
the only thing is that different people will be available at different times etc etc etc.............
just an idea though would be pretty kool to see a all golf trip to nurburing!
-
Now that does sound coooool  loads of v-dubs all thrashing round nurburing, and the convoy there and back
-
We found that the convoying is one of the best bits - the number of people that came over when parked up and on the roads was just a great feeling
True you can do it yourselves if you want but it does help take some of teh burden away by joining an organised event - corssings are £60, 2X shirts = £50, two party tickets = £60, the route cards, the stickers - well there is your £200 already and then someone has to do a dry run to scout the trip so thats why there is an entry fee - not getting defensive but these events costs huge amounts to organise, in total I lost £1,000 last year because of the effort that went in and there is something different about doing it under a 'brand' and being a part of something - would love to get some gti's along too :nerd:
-
Is that entry fee per-car or per-person?
-
The entry fee is per car
As stated you get your ferry crossings, all the stickers for your car, the final stage party, 2 embroidered speedball shirt, a welcome pack with everything you need to know and organise, route cards each day and other bits and pieces - these bits alone nearly equate to the entry fee
We will have a cameraman there documenting the event too so that a DVD of the event can be produced along with a profesional still photographer to take pictures of your car doing silly speeds on the track!
-
it's a nice thought, but i doubt i'd get past Amsterdam.......  :smug:
-
Me too Hardcor3! would be sooo cool but the fuel bill alone would be too much and they drive on the wrong side of the road!!!
-
I must say I am tempted! i just need a reliable car to do it in!
-
same here.. somethin id love to do but the car and the petrol it guzzles would mean id never make it.
-
Petrol is obviously the biggest expense - spare a thought for the bentley who took part last year £1400!!!
I would estimate for a GTI that fuel would be in the region of £600-£700, my skyline was £1000 but that is incredibly thirsty - so IRO £300/person for the whole trip.
Driving on the other side of the road is difficult for the first couple of miles but after that its fine - crossroads are...well fun!!! Just as a sneak preview in Amsterdam I am looking to have the meeting point at a comedy club in the Red light district (it is a safe place I have been reassured! - unlike SOHO and other areas in other countries)
Haven't had any entries from this site just yet - the entry form has no obligation but provides us with details to contact you to discuss any concerns you may have and information should you wish to confirm
-
I would love to do it but am on the bones of my ar*e and couldnt afford the fuel bills!
also if you supplied a mechanic in the pack then i might consider it
-
the reason i said that because i been on a tour down to Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours with the bmw boys all in our e30's.... about 5years ago.
it was the best thing i have ever done! and amongst 20 of us there was some who knew f**k all about cars and some who were professinals and loads who knew what was what etc....
no one broke down anyway had a few flat tyres country roads in france can get bit sh!t someareas.
i think a club the size of this one will easily be able to arrange something like leave on friday b back by sunday etc. that way only need one day off work.... or do it over a bank holiday starting on satda etc....
if theres enough interest i dnt mind helping out to arrange it.
-
If theres enough intrest seen as its only £275 per VEHICLE..
lets all just chip in, get a coach and do it
