Title: strut hassle

fitting some spax got the strut off but its got a strange fitment its a circle with two squares taken out of it incasing the insert is it a special tool thats require

yes I think you need one of these, german and swedish sell them for about £7.

Screw driver and hammer - works fine too.... and then to install new items - if non VAG, usually large spanner size and not the crap VAG spec.... thats what I did for my suspension install..... - but for VAG or what your explaining - you should use the tool as provided by truff...

2 large molegrips is what i used, one to hold the strut, and another for the strut cap, works a treat. You can also loosen the strut top whilst its still on the car, this way you will only need one set of plumbers molegrips
