Hello Everyone,
Thought i'd quickly introduce myself then ask for some advice!!
I had a a Mk 1 golf GTi 1.8 cab. about 3 years ago then turned to a mazda for a couple of years, now i am back with a golf it's a 2.0 (8v) GTi (1997).
Now the bit of advice i'm hoping to get is this....
I brought a cat 1. alarm (Sigma S30), i've had the alarm for about a month and it's been fine until this morning....
I left my house drove up the road (1/5 mile) then realised i'd forgotten something so turned back!!! when i arrived home i turned the car off but didn't arm the alarm. I came out in about 2 minutes, put the key in the ignition, put the ignition on, and pushed the button on the key fob to de-activate the immobiliser. the car would tick over but it seemed there wasn't any fuel getting in.
So i called the company who fitted the alarm and they told me how to by-pass the fuel immobilisation, i did this but it had no effect. i then took a spark plug out and plugged it back in and touched the end on the chassis while my girlfriend turned it over and there was no spark................
Now the company who fitted the alarm said they would come out but if the cars fault is nothing to do with the alarm i would be charged a shed load.
What i'm asking is has any one had a similar fault or know what is the best thing to do??

Was the car working fine before they got their mitts on it? Never missed a beat before in that way?
Get them back and tell them it was fine before, so fix it please!!! :smiley:

Love to be able to help with the prob, but I am what you may call a novice in all this! A learning process it is, but the force is strong :wink:

Welcome to the forum. :smiley: I've no idea on your problem, but my suggestion would be to do a search in the mk3 forum as I'm wondering if it's some sort of fuel relay that's the problem as a few mk3 owners seem to have problems with fuelling etc. It may be something to do with the alarm, or it may be just a coincidence. Do a search down the mk3 section for relay, sensor, problems, fuelling etc and see what happens.  :smiley:

i found out a little bit about the sigma alarms for u
apparently they are connected(or should be) to the ignition the fuel pump and they also should be connected to the spark (for the spark plugs) which sounds like the problems you are having
there is no way of doing it really without getting a specialist out
i tried to find out what colour code the wires are but they are all black the only thing you could do is disconect the wires but when you do tag them so you know where they came from
up to you really but i would disconnect it or get a price for a new one to be fitted it would probably work out cheaper then getting the old one fixed
