Title: re-circulating valve.
Post by: sambo on 07 February 2006, 18:43
Hi.

On my mk4 1.8T my recirculating valve (dump valve?) makes a bit of a noise, i know it is supposed to, but this is more like a chuffing noise when i change gear, it has been getting more prominent over the last few days and i thought i read on here somewhere that it could be knackered?

Question is, is it worth replacing the standard one with something like a forge. Are these any better in quality, durability and does it really reduce turbo lag as it says on the box?

Also when i floor it, once the turbo has kicked in the acceleration seems to studder a few times momenterally every now and again, not had a turbo car before so noy sure if its normal or not..

Could these be the same problems?

Any info greatfully recieved.

Sam

the hesitation in acceleration could be because of the faulty diverter valve

the forge dv's use a piston rather than a diaphragm so its more reliable, should last longer. there isnt any real noticable lag with the 1.8T's on stock turbos, i reckon any difference people find in that respect is placebo.
